Recipient Update – Susan from Arkansas
“Ok girl it is time to ride.”
Susan, a grant recipient from 2013, and her partner checked in with us this week from Arkansas. To us, it doesn’t matter your age, what kind of activity you’re doing, or what your goals are. We are reminded over and over that sports and recreation have an amazing transformative power, especially when the experience is on your own terms. Ride on Susan!
There was a period of time of some depression and tough moments, however it was because of the handcycle that she received from the Kelly Brush Foundation that she was able to pull herself out of a bad place and start riding forward again. We have expanded our adaptive hobbies to kayaking, sitting on a paddle board and rowing. Susan was able to pull herself out of a very dark place by having the handcycle in the garage and many friends telling her…ok girl it is time to ride. Without the handcycle I am not sure where we would actually be today? Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for all you are doing to help so many of us out here trying to just move forward.
