FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kelly Brush Foundation Awards 92 Active Fund Grants for Spring 2019

BURLINGTON, VT (May 15, 2019) – The Kelly Brush Foundation (KBF) is excited to welcome 92 new Active Fund grant recipients into the KBF family this spring! The Kelly Brush Foundation awarded $238,000 in adaptive sports equipment funding to people living in 33 states across the US. The Active Fund provides financial assistance to people with spinal cord injuries who want to live their best, active lives.

The Spring 2019 grant class requested a wide variety of adaptive equipment. Handcycles were once again the most requested item, with 29 handcycle grants awarded. KBF also gave grants for 15 basketball chairs, 15 all-terrain chairs, 13 monoskis, and 5 rugby chairs.

“Every year we get more applications to the Active Fund, and we hope to continue increasing both the number and the size of the grants we award,” said Executive Director Zeke Davisson. “This spring we were thrilled to be able to award the most funding ever for an Active Fund grant cycle, to a group of truly amazing people all across the country.”

The Active Fund consists of a spring and a fall grant cycle, with two opportunities per year for people to apply for adaptive sports equipment funding. The next opportunity to apply will be the Fall 2019 Active Fund grant cycle, which will open in June.
