KBF Fall 2020 Active Fund is Open

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kelly Brush Foundation Accepting Fall 2020 Active Fund Applications

Deadline for grant applications is September 23, 2020

BURLINGTON, VT (Aug 1, 2020) – The Kelly Brush Foundation (KBF) is accepting applications for Fall 2020 Active Fund adaptive sports equipment grants until September 23. The Active Fund helps people with spinal cord injuries purchase the adaptive sports equipment they need to participate in sports and outdoor recreation.

With the widespread closure of gyms and programming due to COVID-19, it is more important than ever for people to be able to exercise independently, for both mental and physical health. Adaptive sports equipment provides that freedom.

To date the Kelly Brush Foundation has awarded over 953 adaptive sports equipment grants to people who are paralyzed, spanning 48 states. The most commonly requested pieces of equipment are handcycles (both road and offroad), basketball chairs, monoskis, all-terrain chairs, racing chairs, rugby chairs, tennis chairs, and WCMX chairs.

“Adaptive sports are truly life-changing for anyone with a spinal cord injury”, said founder Kelly Brush. “Sports and recreation bring happiness, health, and community into people’s lives, and at the Kelly Brush Foundation we believe everyone should have access to the equipment they need to get active.”

Anyone living in the United States with a spinal cord injury is eligible to apply for an Active Fund grant. The full guidelines and online application can be found at: https://kellybrushfoundation.org/theactivefund/
