Kelly w. SASC

I have skied every winter since I was 2 years old. It’s pretty cool to think that I haven’t missed a season. In my years racing I obviously skied all over the place, but since then I have mostly stuck to 1 or 2 areas per season. This season I made it to 8 different ski areas (from east to west): Sugarloaf, Sunday River, Waterville Valley, Cannon, Stowe, Pico, Vail, and Telluride.

Skiing with Spaulding

Much of the variety came because Zeke and I tagged along with Spaulding Adaptive Sports Center’s alpine ski program. They took adaptive skiers from Boston to different areas around the northeast. We partnered with them, providing multiple monoskis. It was fun to see them used!

Colorado

DCIM100GOPROColorado was a big highlight from this season. Zeke’s sister and her husband spent the winter in Telluride. Neither of us had ever been there, so this seemed like the time. We skied three days in 50 degrees and the gorgeous Colorado sunshine. The most amazing part for us easterners was how good the snow stayed even in the warm weather – someone tried to explain the reasoning based on the humidity, etc., just sounded like how ice was made to me. But check out this cool video of me skiing in Telluride. Definitely fun!

20150214_171236 (1)After Telluride we headed over to Vail for 2 days (again warm and sunny) and then on to Beaver Creek for World Championships. We watched Ted Ligety win the GS, Mikaela Shiffrin win the SL, met a lot of great people involved in World Champs and got some more beautiful skiing in.

Stowe and Tuckerman Ravine

Back home in the east, we closed out the season with 2 other awesome weekends. The first was Stowe at the end of March. It was great to go back to where I grew up skiing and rip around in my monoski. I went up the Gondola for this first time since my injury! Read my post about Stowe here.

Tucks blog bannerThen we made the epic trek up Tuckerman Ravine, a first for me, in early April. A perfect cap to the end of a great ski season! Read my post about Tucks here.

Zeke and I definitely took advantage of this incredibly snowy winter! Now we’re packing for Mexico for a Midd ski team wedding. When we get back, time to pull the handcycle out of the garage and get ready for the 10th Annual Kelly Brush Century Ride!
